Greetings Friends of Delta!
On behalf of the members of the Chester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I welcome you to our website. Chester Alumnae is about to embark on its 17th year of public service to the communities in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Public service lies at the core of our Sisterhood and is demonstrated through the Sorority's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
Educational Development
- CAC programs: Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, Adopt-a-Class at Columbus Elementary School, mentoring of young males and the awarding of scholarships and book stipends to high school seniors going on to higher education.
Economic Development
- CAC programs: financial workshops, Adopt-a-Highway, homeownership workshop, energy conservation strategy forum and spotlight on black owned businesses.
International Awareness and Involvement
- CAC programs: Adoption of an orphanage and school in Liberia, West Africa, Water Project for Haiti.
Physical and Mental Health
- CAC programs: Childhood obesity prevention workshop, spotlight on the foster care system, the 50 Million Pound Challenge and mental health forums.
Political Awareness and Involvement
- CAC programs: Voter registration and education, town hall meetings and chapter visits with local, county, state and national legislators.
The programs listed are just a few ways in which the members of Chester Alumnae continue to work to make a difference. We thank you, the Delaware County community for your support and know that it is critical to our success.
Please check this website often to stay informed and connected and use it to learn about the many great things that we are doing. As always we are determined and ready to continue the legacy of our 22 Founders, who in 1913 saw the vision of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.
